It was an incredible day to be down at the Great Ocean Road marathon yesterday as our very own Crosbie Crew superstar Kirstin Bull won the Great Ocean Road 44km marathon for the third time in as many years.
Kirstin, who holds the Australian women’s 100km record, set out in less-than-favourable conditions from Lorne to win the women’s division in a lightning quick time of 3:06:37, adding yesterday’s race to her Great Ocean Road Marathon trifecta.
Kirstin, or KB as she is known in the Crew, first raced and won the challenging ultra in 2014 before setting a personal course record with her win this time last year. Having been selected to represent Australia three times now, it’s safe to say yesterday’s win solidifies KB’s position as one of Australia’s preeminent ultra-runners and one to watch.
Coach Tim Crosbie said, “It’s great to see Kirstin reach a level of consistency that enables her to be able to handle any type of conditions and still perform at her best. Three in a row at Great Ocean Road is historic and she’s now stamped herself as one of the legends of this event.”
The Crosbie Crew are immensely proud to count KB as a fellow crew member, coach, friend and mentor. We wish her all the best in her recovery and celebrations for her hard work and immense success.
